Safestay Passeig de Gracia, Barcelona

Passeig de Gràcia 33, 08007, Barcelona

Safestay Passeig de Gracia, Barcelona, centrally located with several floors (not sure how many exactly), enough to have lots of netting on each floor to prevent any accidents. There are mixed reviews online, but the best way to form an opinion, is to go and experience it for yourself, which is exactly what I did.

Centrally located in the heart of Barcelonas shopping street Passeig de Gracia and easy access to bus, train and metro links to the airport.

Details and dorms

The centrally located hostel has a large grand entrance area with multiple floors and I’d love to know what the building used to be used for, as it has a lot of gorgeous features including a brightly coloured stain glass roof, if you look up.

The hostel is functional, has a spacious lounge/breakfast area and one of the best features is the gorgeous roof terrace with its epic views of the City and Casa Batllo.

The staff were helpful, engaging and friendly upon check in too, which always makes such a difference to me.

Price range - I payed 20 euros but like all Barcelona hostels this can fluctuate dependent on the season. I was happy to pay 20 but if it was too much more per night I’d like some TLC and upgrades for the price tag, despite it being super central.

The rooms - They are basic bunk beds with metal frames with a locker for each bed. Clean and functional, worked for me as I also had a gorgeous view but it would depend on the person and price.

The bathrooms - They are basic and functional.

Age range - When I stayed there was a mix of ages

Atmosphere and amenities

Safestay Passeig de Gracia corridors were a bit disorientating, as there are white tiles everywhere but once you have found your bearings, the layout of the floors becomes a bit easier.

The atmosphere was calm when I stayed which may differ season dependent. There were a few people working on their laptops in the communal area and some people relaxing on the terrace but it wasn’t too busy.

Amenities - Outside terrace, communal areas, pool table, gorgeous views of the City.

What I liked?

  • The friendly staff upon check in, these small details go along way

  • The excellent price for such a central location

  • The roof terrace was one of my favourite things about this place and well worth the stay just for this

  • The cool conversations I had with some of the guests

Things to note

  • The rooms are more basic and functional which were great for me for one night
